Heartwarming Holiday Cacao Nog

Eggnog is a holiday classic in the USA and Canada, often paired with a warm cup of cocoa. This year, we’ve combined the two—using Keith’s Cacao—for a festive twist that’s creamy, light, and made to share from the heart.

Rich, nutty almond milk meets the sweetness of vanilla, while nutmeg and cinnamon add just the right hint of spice. Thanks to the natural butter in Keith’s Cacao, this holiday nog is thick, indulgent, and utterly irresistible.

Eggnog has a long history. Time Magazine traces it back to medieval Britain, where it evolved from a simple ale-and-milk drink called posset into the creamy, spiced tradition we know today. And while people usually either love it or hate it, adding Keith’s Cacao seems to win over even the skeptics.

Play around if you like. Swap in other plant-based milks, try a pinch of clove—but honestly, this version hits the sweet spot. Simple, delicious, and undeniably festive, it may just change the way you drink eggnog forever. Your kids (and you) will thank you.

Ingredients

Instructions

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Keith's Cacao
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • Honey (or sweetener) to taste
  • 12 fl. oz. Almond Milk
  • Pinch of Nutmeg
  • ⅛ tsp Vanilla
  • ⅛ tsp Cinnamon
  • ⅛ Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Chop your cacao and set it aside.
  2. In a bowl or cup, add yolk and honey, mix well, and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, heat almond milk, vanilla, spices, and salt.
  4. Once warm, slowly "temper" your egg mixture: to do this begin mixing your egg and honey mix while slowly adding a stream of warm liquid. If the mixture is too hot, it can "scramble" your egg. Continue adding the liquid until about 1/4 of the liquid is used.
  5. Add the tempered egg mixture back to the pan and stir to the desired heat. The mixture may thicken slightly.
  6. Add your cacao to a blender, pour your liquid over the top, and blend.
  7. Pour in your favorite mug and garnish with a dash of fresh nutmeg!
  8. Cheers & enjoy!
