This is a recipe for a full ceremonial dose of Cacao, which you can enjoy by yourself or offer to your guests in summer ceremonies.

The true charm of this delightful sensory libation is in its contrast: the rich, ruch chocolateness of Keith's Cacao is beautifully balanced by the fresh, fruity, and zesty tones of the tangerine, wrapped together with the clean, fresh scent of lavender! 

Lavender is widely used in aromatherapy and is known for calming the nervous system, lifting the mood, and even lowering blood pressure. Research links lavender usage to less anxiety and depression. Plus, it adds natural cheer to décor!

This recipe can also be made with any type of orange or other citrus fruit. All citrus fruits are packed with antioxidants and are a good source of fiber, folate, potassium, and vitamin C. 

Our preference for tangerine is based on the fact that it is less sour, sweeter, and has a more robust flavor and a shorter aftertaste than other oranges. 

Since the recipe calls for just half a tangerine, you can reserve the remaining half to break your fast. And the color is so beautifully vibrant and welcoming for your guests. ⁠

  • 1 ½ oz Keith's Cacao
  • 12 oz Almond milk
  • 1 Tangerine
  • ¼ tsp Fresh lavender
  • Stevia - to taste
  • 1 cup Ice

Instructions

  1. To begin, chop your Ceremonial Cacao and set aside.
  2. Using a potato peeler, carefully remove a curl from the tangerine peel, avoiding the white "pith" or bitter rind. Set aside.
  3. Cut your tangerine in half, and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan over low heat, add almond milk, lavender, stevia, and orange peel. Next, squeeze in half the tangerine.
  5. Allow your liquid mix to simmer gently. Ideally, it will be warm but not hot. 
  6. If using a BLENDER, add the chopped cacao to a blender, pour over the liquid and blend until smooth and creamy.
  7. Alternatively, add the chopped cacao to the saucepan with the rest of the ingredients and use a WHISK to mix until fully dissolved.
  8. Next, pour your blended elixir over a glassful of ice. You may garnish your drink with a sprig of lavender or rim the edge with the remaining tangerine.
  9. Enjoy!
