How can I prepare for the Heart Yoga & Cacao Experience?
If you need to purchase Cacao for the event (which is recommended) try and do this at least 7 days beforehand. If you need to stock up, you can purchase Cacao here.
Should you wish to meet other Cacao-lovers in anticipation of your Heart Yoga & Cacao experience, you are invited to join The Global Cacao Tribe Facebook Group.
Please plan to log on a few minutes early so that you may get acclimated to Zoom and settle into your space so that we may start as planned. Have your Cacao made beforehand.
GETTING COMFORTABLE - Make sure to have some space around you, a Yoga mat, a cushion to sit on, and two yoga blocks (books work fine too). A blanket nearby may serve you in Shavasana if you become cold. If you think you may like an eye pillow during Shavasana, feel free to have that nearby as well - anything that allows you to sink into the space, into the moment. Please dress comfortably for movement.
ACCESSIBILITY - Try to find a space for yourself where you can set up your computer, phone, or tablet in such a way that you can be seen by the camera. Ideally, I will be able to see you vertically across the screen & have at least a partial view of your face. That is my preference. If we cannot attain that, whatever visibility we have will work. This helps with holding space and tuning into what guidance you may need along the journey.
ALTAR ITEMS - Make your space sacred by preparing ahead of time. Honor yourself by creating an Altar using stones, flowers, crystals, photos, trinkets, or objects of sentimental value; anything that brings you comfort or may otherwise deepen your experience and help you journey towards your highest self.
SETTING AN INTENTION - It is Important to show up with an Intention. I like to see the Asanas (yoga positions) as a gift box. The box itself is not what is valuable; it is what we choose to put inside the box that brings it value and purpose. And that is our Intention! Take a few moments before we get started to plant your seed, your Intention. Let it come to you in words, feelings, or any form. Then simply release it and trust the journey and that you will receive the Medicine you need right now on your pathway to the heart.
JOURNAL & PEN - You may want - or be asked - to write down some thoughts or intentions beforehand and capture some messages or experiences immediately afterward or during the class. Writing, even if it's just jotting down bullet points, can help us dive deeper and integrate that which comes through during the journey.
Foods to Avoid on the Day Of Ceremony:
• Coffee/caffeine - as it can cause headaches
• Dairy - as it can cause irritable stomach
A note on food and nourishment
Have a little something in your stomach - a grounding snack or a light lunch. if you are having lunch, please do so at least two hours before the session.
Drink water before the session and plenty of water after your session. Listen to your body.
Since Cacao is a diuretic, make sure there is a bathroom nearby should you need it during the session.
You may want to have a grounding snack for after your session, as well - nuts, root vegetables, and anything that grows on the ground is good for centering.
Dosage
A ceremonial dose of Cacao is 1.5 oz.*
*If this is your first time sitting with Cacao, please consider a lower dose of 0.8 – 1.0 oz.
*If you are pregnant, please consult your physician, and if you do proceed with the Cacao, have a dose of 0.5 oz.
*If you are on any prescribed medications, please consult your physician.
Restroom
Make sure you use the restroom beforehand so that a full bladder does not disrupt your breathing.
Willingness & Openness
You signed up, so you're already here. The more you can give yourself to the practice, the more you will receive. You are fully supported by the Universe & I am here as a representative & pillar of that.
Integration
Make sure to take some time to Integrate your experience afterward.
That might be through journaling or a little Mediation to feel into what you have created and listen for guidance from your Heart. What is your Heart telling you right now?
If you feel drawn, go outside with your bare feet and feel the ground, the earth.
Have some nourishing and grounding food, such as root veggies and a curry or stew with warm spices.
