ABOUT KEITH WILSON

Keith Wilson was a geologist, herbalist, and healer who had been helping people for decades, when a surprise encounter with cacao in Guatemala altered the course of his life (and the lives of many others).

With guidance from the Cacao Spirit, our intentional search for Criollo (“native”) cacao in the long-revered mountain rainforests of Guatemala ensures our cacao beans consistently contain the perfect energy and flavor in every batch of Ceremonial Grade Cacao.

This region of Central America was revered by the ancients because it produced the finest cacao. It takes significant time and precise intention to find beans with both the right energy and flavor. It’s worth the effort, as our cacao has batch-to-batch consistency others cannot match.

Keith's Cacao is lovingly handcrafted by a truly magical team from our local community in San Marcos la Laguna, Guatemala. Many were trained by Keith himself. Since our origin we have empowered dozens of indigenous families, providing high wages, full benefits, and flexible working conditions.

Hand-toasting over wood-fired stoves goes back many generations, ensuring expert-level techniques that bring out the complex cacao flavors without burnt taste or unnecessary over-processing

While most cacao is machine-peeled (where moldy beans sneak in), our beans are always peeled by human hands, then double-inspected to ensure the cleanest cacao possible.
